Good afternoon everyone and welcome to a wonderful week in the OBX. I am excited to start From OBX and I can’t wait to share everything that makes the OBX the place to be. With that being said, let’s get into it and we’ll catch ya later.

March Snow, Endless Summers

I've been on quite a few trips over my 29 years of life and seen some cool places. From Hawaii to Singapore, and New York to Florida, there are so many places I would visit again, but there's only one that's really caught my heart. 4 years ago, we went on our first trip out there in March and anyone that's been there knows that that isn't exactly the best time to go. It also didn't help that I was studying for the MCAT the whole time and my wife was 3 months pregnant with our first child. Even with all that it made it quite memorable.

My dad had lived in North Carolina for a few years when he was in his 20’s and had been to the Outer Banks once during that time and had wanted to take us back forever. Well he finally booked the trip and we all went out together. North Carolina was incredible, but Outer Banks really stood out. We were there for 4 days, but drove over from Raleigh which gave me 3.5 hours to study, since we were driving late at night. We are from Utah so I was curious how the weather compares between the cities we were visiting and Utah. The one question I asked my dad on this long drive was “does it snow very often in Raleigh or the Outer Banks?” To which he replied “No, it pretty rare they have snow in the Outer Banks, and snow in Raleigh is usually pretty light.”

For anyone that knows, March isn't exactly warm in the Outer Banks, but it isn't freezing either, so we came prepared with some shorts and some pants for any kind of weather. We got in really late the first night and woke up the next day ready to check everything out. I was astounded by all of the incredibly beautiful homes and impressed how they all were held up on stilts, for lack of a better term. We spent most of the day driving around checking things out and sight seeing. At night, we stopped by Harris Teeter to get some groceries and when we stepped out of the car I noticed some snow flakes coming down. I instantly turned to my dad and said “I think you lied about this whole “no snow” thing.” We all got a good kick out of it, and it was awesome to see snow in a beach town!

This just goes to show how incredible and special the Outer Banks truly is. You can get snow in March and warm sandy beaches in June. This is exactly why since then we have gone back to the Outer Banks almost twice a year, it is that special and I want other people to understand that. I'm going to be sharing all the great spots out here, activities, as well as things that make this place special. You can find my Outer Banks/Beach playlist at the bottom of this email, if you need some good vibes for driving with the windows down, or up to feel the beach vibes and keep the snow out!

The Mane Attraction

This week we are featuring one of the coolest experiences that I think exists in the Outer Banks. If you want to see some wild horses on the beach, there are so many opportunities to find them.

If I were you, I would go check out Wild Horse Adventure Tours on your next visit. They are just one of the many differing tours you can do but have some of the best reviews and their open air hummers are pretty cool. Check them out below!
